Call for Poster Abstracts: Mary O’Connor Palliative and Hospice Care Conference

Alberta Health Services Palliative/End of Life Care – Calgary Zone invites you to submit an abstract for poster presentation at the 19th Annual Mary O’Connor Palliative and Hospice Care Conference being held April 4, 2019 at the Grey Eagle Resort in Calgary, Alberta.
The deadline for abstract submission is 4:00 PM, January 23, 2019.
The theme of the 2019 Conference is Exploring Vulnerability: Becoming Authentically Response-able. The overall goals of the conference are to understand new trends in palliative and hospice care, gain new information regarding palliative care, network with colleagues, and to celebrate, support and strengthen the future of palliative and hospice care. We believe that by showcasing current work, initiatives, and research, you can help us achieve these goals.
Poster presentations associated with palliative and end of life care can be related to current or recent research studies (completed or underway), innovative practices, quality improvement projects, or program evaluations with related learning.
All abstracts selected for poster presentation will be published online and accessible for all attendees to view.
Authors of abstracts selected for poster presentation will be contacted via email by February 15, 2019 and invited to display their posters at the Conference.

Abstracts which represent original work are preferred.
Abstracts must be submitted in English.
Please use standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parenthesis after the full word when it appears for the first time.
Errors, misspelling and incorrect abbreviations will not be corrected.
Abstracts must not exceed 400 words, excluding the abstract heading & co-authors names.
An individual may submit more than one abstract. One official submission form is required for each abstract.
There is no fee to submit abstract(s).
Edits to submitted abstracts may be made until February 11, 2019. Instructions for making edits can be found on the abstract submission.
Submission Deadline: January 23, 2019 – 4:00 p.m.
Notification Date by: February 15, 2019
When submitting your abstract, please follow the format described below:
Abstract (maximum of 400 words)
Introduction & Aims (Purpose, Objectives, Hypothesis to be tested or a Description of the problem/issue)
Relevance to Palliative and Hospice Care
Description of the Initiative/Project
Implications for Research, Practice or Policy
The presenting author of the abstract must register for the Conference and will be given a registration discount. Instructions will be provided once the poster has been accepted.
Poster presenters must stand by their poster(s) at specific (assigned) times to give brief presentations and answer questions during the Conference.
Presenters are responsible for related expenses, e.g. printing, travel, etc.
Posters must not exceed 114 X 114 cm (approximately 45 inches by 45 inches) in size but may be any dimension within these constraints. Oversize posters will not be displayed properly.
